On Monday (22nd August), the Déli<-Parti InterRégió that left Balatonszentgyörgy for Budapest at 12:15 p.m. hit a pedestrian at the railway crossing in Ady Endre street, Balatonmáriafürdő. The pedestrian lost his life in the accident.
The light barrier and semi-barrier was working when the train was moving. Traffic will be suspended between Balatonmáriafürdő and Balatonszentgyörgy until the investigation is completed (expected to be 4:00 p.m.). Replacement buses are already being organized for the Fonyód-Balatonszentgyörgy section, delays and longer travel times can be expected on the south-Balaton line until the early evening.
