Budapest detectives caught two men who allegedly killed the partner of one of them with medication last year in order to get her apartment and money, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) reported on police.hu on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, one of the men decided last year to kill his 44-year-old partner in order to obtain her rental right of her apartment in district VI., Budapest and six million forints.
On June 14th, 2021, the then 32-year-old man dissolved a large amount of medicine in the woman’s drink with the help of his friend in the apartment, and after his partner lost consciousness, they administered more medicine to her, which caused the woman’s death. The first data indicated a self-inflicted overdose and did not raise the suspicion of a crime, but this year the capital’s life protection investigators obtained information on the basis of which they launched an investigation, they added.
Based on expert opinions and additional evidence obtained during the criminal proceedings, the woman’s ex-partner was arrested on August 12th in Állampuszta, when he was released from the penitentiary after serving his sentence for another crime. His companion, a 46-year-old man, was arrested by the police in Csepel. Both men were interrogated and then taken into custody on suspicion of murder committed out of a desire for profit and harming a defenseless person. The suspects denied committing the crime, the statement said.
