One person died in an apartment fire in Budapest, district XVI. in the ground floor apartment of a three-storey building on Lándzsa street, the National Directorate General for Disaster Management reported on Saturday.
In one of the rooms of the apartment, the bed and its surroundings burned on one and a half square meters, and thick smoke leaked from the property.
The arriving professional firefighters from the capital and Zugló extinguished the flames in a short time, but the person living in the apartment suffered smoke poisoning and, despite a long attempt at resuscitation, they could not save his life.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Disaster Management.
