The first raised, accessible platform at Keleti Railway Station has been inaugurated, and the corroded support structure of the historic platform roof has been renovated, announced the CEO of MÁV on his social media page on Friday.
In a video message, Zsolt Hegyi explained that the tracks on both sides of the raised platform were also adjusted. Passengers can now board accessible trains level with the platform, and trains to Belgrade will also depart from here.
He added that MÁV aims to develop Keleti Station every year using its own budget. As part of last year’s HUF 5 billion comprehensive investment, switches, tracks, and the entire overhead line network were renewed. Next year, the plan is to raise two more platforms and construct a new track.
