More Than 30 Brands to Present Themselves at the Budapest Central European Fashion Week

The spring-summer collections of more than thirty Hungarian and regional fashion brands will be presented at the 10th Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW), which will also offer thirty additional programs between August 29th and September 4th.

 

By organizing the jubilee, now tenth BCEFW, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (MDDÜ) wants to strengthen Budapest’s role as the regional fashion industry capital, said MDDÜ’s CEO at the event’s press conference in Budapest.

Zsófia Jakab emphasized that the importance of the creative industry, including the fashion and design industry, is constantly growing in the Hungarian economy, while fashion industry brands contribute to shaping the country’s image and strengthen cultural identity. As she added, BCEFW pays special attention to Ukrainian fashion designers in the current war situation, in cooperation with Ukrainian Fashion Week.

Anita Forintos-Szűcs, MDDÜ’s deputy general manager, recalled that in the nine seasons of BCEFW so far, a total of 179 catwalk shows and 163 accompanying events were held, at which 130 Hungarian and regional designers could present themselves to an audience of more than 18,000.

The usual guests at fashion week are the editors of the most prestigious fashion magazines, international distributors, stylists, designers and influencers, but BCEFW’s social media presence is also significant: in the last two seasons, 1.5 million people followed the event on Tik Tok and 13.5 million on Instagram he noted.

According to Anita Forintos-Szűcs, the Budapest Central European Fashion Week is consciously organized before the big international fashion weeks. This year, the BCEFW weekend fashion shows will be hosted by the Museum of Fine Arts, where 15 Hungarian, 2 Polish and 7 Ukrainian brands will present themselves with catwalk shows, and the products of another 7 Hungarian exhibitors will also be on display.

From the beginning of the week, 30 additional programs are waiting for the public all over the city, and a dedicated showroom will be set up for the buyers of foreign fashion stores – Anita Forintos-Szűcs reported on the details.
