Locality Near Budapest Hit By Water Shortage

Local News

About 3,000 inhabitants of Solymár, a hillside village north-west of Budapest, have been hit by a serious water shortage, with 1,000 households having no access to drinking water at all, Tamás Menczer, ruling Fidesz party lawmaker of the region, told a press conference on Thursday.

Citing the service provider Danube Regional Waterworks (DMRV), Menczer said the reason for the shortage was insufficient capacity of the water supply network and an increase in consumption due to the heatwave. Water tankers are providing supplies in the meantime, he noted.
