Fidesz: Budapest Mayor Sent No Reply to Open Letter on Bus Rentals

Local News

Ruling Fidesz has said it has not received a reply to an open letter it sent to Budapest’s mayor, Gergely Karácsony, concerning the rental of buses in the capital.

Zsolt Láng, the leader of Fidesz’s group in the city assembly, has accused Budapest transport company BKV of planning to rent buses from an offshore company with no employees, registered just a week before the tender was announced. Tamás Leisztinger, the former partner of a deputy mayor of the capital, Kata Tüttő, headed the company, he added. Láng said it was clear BKV’s decision-makers had been aware as early as the spring that Leisztinger’s company, CR-Facilites, posed a corporate security risk. The Fidesz politician added that he wanted to know who was responsible for allowing the company to win the tender. Láng said he also wanted to know whether a valid contract had been concluded between BKV and CR – Facilities Zrt. Among other questions he wanted answered was: “If a contract was indeed concluded, when was it terminated?” Earlier, Karácsony denied that BKV had signed a bus rental contract “with a company of dubious background”.
