SAG-AFTRA and Studios Finalize a New Three-Year Contract Agreement.
The strike is officially set to conclude at local time (PST) 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, bringing an end to over seven months of labor unrest in Hollywood. This period witnessed both the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA participating in the industry’s first joint strike in more than 60 years.
After an extensive 118-day strike by the actors’ guild, SAG-AFTRA and the studios have, as of Wednesday, successfully reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. This breakthrough could mean a swift return to normalcy in Hollywood within the upcoming weeks.
Following a day filled with intense negotiations and financial reports from the studios, the 17-member negotiating committee of the actors’ guild unanimously voted this afternoon to recommend the tentative agreement to the SAG-AFTRA board.
