A Wizz Air plane traveling from Eindhoven to Budapest was damaged during takeoff on Sunday, so the trip had to be interrupted, 24.hu learned. The passengers could only be transported home a day later.

On August 21st, a Wizz Air flight from Eindhoven to Budapest collided with a flock of birds during takeoff, during which the plane’s tires were damaged, so the takeoff had to be interrupted for the safety of passengers and crew. The engineer colleagues started the maintenance of the plane immediately, but due to the protracted works, Wizz Air was forced to reschedule the flight to August 22nd.

WIZZ notified the affected passengers about the rescheduling and related information via SMS and e-mail. The ground handling staff reserved accommodation for the passengers in the interim period and also arranged their transportation. The rescheduled flight took off at 17:30 on August 22nd to fly back to Budapest.

They added that Wizz Air apologizes for any inconvenience caused, and affected passengers can apply for a refund of independently booked accommodation and other costs arising from the rescheduling of the flight on Wizz Air’s interfaces or at customer service by presenting a copy of the invoices.
